Do you know Suya originated from the north? I guess it’s so pleasurable that we just want to eat it without knowing where it’s from. It’s understandable. Suya is a traditional smoked, spiced meat skewer. Therefore, it’s one of the most tempting and delicious meat ever. We believe the food that helps Nigerian students is Suya. Do you remember your favorite Suya spot where you would tell him to help you add to it?

There are a lot of stories about how a deadly disease kills people’s loved ones. We know you are wondering what kind of disease are we talking about. Thus, this disease is called Cancer. Over 10 million people have experienced death from the disease.

Unlike other diseases, cancer control cell division, which results in immune system harm and tumors. Cancer like leukemia will not cause a visible growth but carcinoma will make its signs visible.

Even though they are deadly diseases, they can still undergo treatment such as chemotherapy, radiation therapy, stem cell transplant, surgery, and precision medicine.

Now, what are we talking about? How do Suya and cancer correlate? The report has it that Suya might contain heterocyclic amines [HCAs). This is possible because they cooked the meat over open flames, which causes the toxic compounds called HCAs.

There was an estimation that over 34,000 deaths from cancer, 99% are because of a high intake of processed meat like Suya. For example, breast cancer wasn’t rampant in the olden days.

However, we have many deaths that emerge from that disease in women of this generation. There is always a way to solve problems.

We know eating Suya is part of our best experience ever. The taste, feeling, and satisfaction we get from it is everlasting. However, we want you to live healthy and fit throughout the days of your life, right? The question is, how can we eat Suya without it causing cancer?

Do you remember the onions, cabbage, and carrots that are always added to the Suya? Well, they are the key to you living a healthy life if you still want to continue your tasteful meat.

Onions are potent antioxidants that halt the oxidative process caused by eating Suya. As we know, oxidative activities in the body caused cancer. Thus, onions help to eradicate those activities in our bodies. Apart from this, there are several ways you can reduce the risk of getting cancer from Suya. Here are some ways that are possible;

•        Allow the charcoal to burn down to only the embers before using it will enable you to cook the meat at a lower temperature.

•        Avoid eating any grilled or smoked meat or fish at all costs.

•        If possible, avoid cooking meat over open flames.

•        If cooking meat over open flames is unavoidable, then you must use foil when cooking to cut down on smoke getting to the meat.

•        Eat grilled meat in smaller servings.

This is because smaller pieces require less time on the fire when it’s grilled.

Although, some people cannot avoid grilled or smoked food.

However, this article is meant to create awareness about the fact that there is a high chance that excessive intake of suya can cause cancer.

The knowledge of this fact will lower the risk of getting cancer if you use the advice of this article. However, we still want to know your favorite story about that suya man in your street or school. Tell us in the comment session.
